The Kids' vote results are in!
Marshmallow is the winning name for the City of Courtenay’s Rec bus.
Thank you to all the children who suggested names and cast a Kids’ vote, and to the parents and caregivers who helped them take part.
How kids chose the name
Kids’ vote is a fun, non-partisan activity that gives children a chance to participate in their community and learn how voting works.
This year, children helped choose a name for the City’s Rec bus. They submitted name ideas at the Lewis Centre from September 10 to 25, 2026.
Five finalists appeared on the Kids’ vote ballot:
- Bus-ter
- Coco Bus
- Honk
- Marshmallow — the winner!
- Zippy
Children voted for their favourite name while attending a voting opportunity with a parent or caregiver on October 7, 14 or 17 during the 2026 City of Courtenay local government election.
Kids’ voices matter
From suggesting names to choosing a favourite and casting a ballot, children had a chance to share their ideas and learn how voting works.
Thank you for helping name Marshmallow and making Kids’ vote a community activity.
