ParticipACTION Community Challenge
Get active with Courtenay Recreation this June as part of the ParticipACTION Community Challenge!
This nationwide initiative encourages individuals, organizations and communities across Canada to move more. The community with the highest score will be named Canada’s Most Active Community and receive $100,000 to support local sport and physical activity programs.
How to participate
It’s easy to take part — join one or more of our activities and share your progress!
- Join Courtenay Recreation’s free and low-cost programs listed in the schedule below throughout June. Some activities require registration.
- Enter our photo contest by posting a photo of yourself being active and tagging it with #CourtenayInAction for a chance to win a prize.
You can also visit the ParticipACTION website to register your own activities or pledge to be active — but it’s not required to participate locally.
Program schedule
Fitness classes (June 2–6)
Location: Lewis Centre
Free. No registration required.
Join us for a week of free drop-in fitness on some of our regularly scheduled classes. Includes free childminding.

Pickleball (June 4-18)

Catch Pickleball Fever
A free, beginner-friendly class that covers basic rules and moves. You'll be rallying and playing real games by the end of the day.

Active Together: fitness trifecta pop-up (June 19)
Location: Outdoor stage, Simms Park

Free. No registration required.
Enjoy three back-to-back 30-minute sessions, designed for participants to flow in and out as needed:
