Come celebrate!

Courtenay’s Canada Day brings together many people, organizations and performers together to celebrate our nation’s birthday in Downtown Courtenay and Lewis Park. A special thank you to our wonderful Canada Day volunteers!

June 30th – Night Before Concert, 4:00 – 9:45 pm

Lewis Park Stage

Enjoy entertainment, vendors, food trucks and 40 Knots Wine and Beer Garden in the park.

  • 4:00 – 6:30 pm – Indigenous & Multicultural Performances

  • 6:45 – 7:45 pmThe Sean Grieve Committee, a six-piece band with an all-star local lineup playing original music and blending blues, gospel, jazz, R&B and rock.

  • 8:00 – 9:45 pmTHE TIME BENDERS, an explosive, interactive, high energy show that will have everyone on the dance floor!

 

July 1st Canada Day Celebrations

Downtown events 9 – 11 am:

  • 10:00 amCANADA DAY PARADE – down 5th Street. 

 

 Lewis Park 11 am - 4 pm:

Come and enjoy performers, vendors, food trucks, information booths, activity booths and 40 Knots Wine and Beer Garden in the park. The MC of the festivities is local entertainment legend Kenny Shaw.

  • 11:00 amKids Zone Opens – Three story inflatable slide, bouncers, face-painting, bubbles & wacky activities.

  • 11:00 to 11:45 am - Lyall Steel and Isabelle Durand, classical creative guitar with beautiful arrangements sung in French, Spanish and English.

  • NOON – WELCOMING CEREMONY and singing of O Canada.

  • 12:30 pmCanada Day Birthday Cake provided by Costco.

  • 1:00 – 2:30 pm - WCC (West Coast Chicago), A phenomenal tribute to the legendary rock band Chicago capturing the authentic sound of all of Chicago’s hit songs from 1969 – 1991.

  • 3:00 pm Kids Bike Draw – Lewis Park Stage. Get tickets for the bike draw at the special events tent beside the Lewis Park stage.

  • Courtenay and District Museum: 11:00 am to 3:00 pmCanada Day Open House with music by Alan Jossul, kids crafts & prizes.

  • Courtenay Legion: 11:00 am - Gord & Friends – Bring the kids to this family friendly event and enjoy food and dancing. Everyone is welcome! Grilled hamburgers and hotdogs available starting at 11 am. Music provided by Gord Kruger and Friends from 2:00 - 5:00 pm.

  • Courtenay Outdoor Pool in Lewis Park: 1:30 to 4:30 pm, FREE Public Swim – Children under 7 years old must be within arms reach of a responsible guardian (16+) at all times. One guardian can supervise up to three children.

  • Native Sons Hall: 2:00 – 4:00 pm Evergreen Tea Dance Georgia Strait Big Band - Native Son’s Hall, drop-in to this event featuring music, refreshments and cake!
