Postal Service Disruption: Impacts During the Canada Post Strike

December 11, 2024

During the ongoing labour dispute at Canada Post, the City’s mail services have been temporarily disrupted. As a result, delays are anticipated in the delivery of water utility invoices, business licences and notices, payments and other documents.

To avoid late fees, interest charges or penalties, we are encouraging account holders to use alternative methods to make payments on time.

We advise residents and businesses to connect with the City to request their invoice to be reprinted or emailed to find out your balance owing. The third quarter water utility invoices are due on December 18th.

The financial service department is available to assist you with your inquiries by email at finance@courtenay.ca, by phone at 250-334-4441, or in-person at City Hall Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Please note, City Hall will be closed to public access from Tuesday, December 24 at noon until Wednesday, January 1, and will resume regular operations on Thursday, January 2, 2025.

Alternative methods of payments are:

  • Online Banking
  1. Go to Pay Bills
  2. Select Add Payee
  3. Type Courtenay in the search field and click Search.
