Courtenay Spring Social Event Promises Good Fun for a Cause
February 12, 2016
The Centennial year may be over, but Courtenay’s Centennial Committee is planning one more big bash – with fundraising going to a cause that will pay dividends to local youth projects for years to come.
The Courtenay Spring Social on Friday, March 18 takes place at the Florence Filberg Centre in the Upstairs Conference Hall. Doors open at 6:30 pm, with a buffet-style chili dinner starting at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $25, with proceeds going toward youth projects in the Comox Valley through the Centennial Legacy Fund.
Centennial Committee member Rod Hunter said the event is expected to be popular. “We’re bringing the concept of a ‘Manitoba Social’ to the Comox Valley,” said Hunter. “It’s going to be a fun and casual get-together, with buffet style chili and buns. We’ve been getting a huge response to this event already, with people wanting tickets, or to help out or donate prizes.
“The spirit of the Centennial carries on, we’re really excited and it’s going to be a great event.”
The event will feature live performances by local favourites Bruce & Judy Wing and headliners Reunion. Raffle prize draws will include a chance to win Westjet flights.
Tickets are now available at the Courtenay Recreation Florence Filberg Centre, Lewis Centre, Courtenay City Hall, and Billy D’s Pub.
