Fire Ban Will Be In Effect Starting Friday at Noon

The BC Wildfire Service will be restricting open burning in the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction starting at noon on Friday, May 13, 2016. The prohibition covers all BC Parks, Crown lands and private lands within the Coastal Fire Centre's jurisdiction, with the exception of the area known as the "Fog Zone" along the north and west outer coast of Vancouver Island, and the Haida Gwaii Forest District.
To coincide with this regional fire ban, the Courtenay Fire Department will be issuing a fire ban that includes following jurisdictions:
- City of Courtenay
- Courtenay Fire Protection District
- Mervillie Fire Protection District
- Tsolum Farnham Fire Protection District
This ban includes open fires as describe on the permit, Incinerators and burn barrels. All permits are hereby cancelled.
The Fire Ban does not pertain to the following at this time:
- Machine piles
- Campfires at a supervised campground
