Looking for Maple Tree and Historic Photos
October 25, 2016
Do you remember the big leaf maple that used to stand Lewis Park, on the north side of the Lewis Centre? In March 2012 the tree fell during a windstorm. The tree was estimated to be about 200 years old.
Courtenay Recreation is making an information board about the tree and its legacy, and is looking for a good photo of the maple tree — preferably with leaves.
This will be the first of a series of information boards about Lewis Park, so any other historic photos of Lewis Park and the Lewis Centre (formerly known as the Agricultural Hall, the Courtenay Athletic Association (C.A.A.), and the Courtenay Recreational Association (CRA)) would be greatly appreciated.
If you have a photo of this tree or other photos you think may be of interest, please send to Lisa Zervakis at lzervakis@courtenay.ca or call 250-334-4441.
