10th Street & Hobson Avenue Intersection Upgrades
October 19, 2017
The City of Courtenay will be upgrading the intersection of 10th Street East and Hobson Avenue. The upgrades will include:
- The addition of a crosswalk across the north and south leg of Hobson Avenue
- new letdowns for either side of the new crosswalks
- Replacement of the existing fire hydrant
- Relocation of the existing storm catch basins
The upgrades to the intersection will increase safety for students who use this route to access local schools. It will also formalize the crossing of Hobson Avenue, and allow for safer park access for residents.
The project is scheduled to begin on Monday, October 23, with planned completion by Thursday, November 2. Work will take place between 7:30am – 4:00pm between the scheduled dates. However the work is weather dependent and construction dates may vary.
Vehicle traffic and on-street parking will be restricted within the work area. Traffic control personnel will be on site to direct vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists within the work area.
