Sewer pipe inspections over next two months in Courtenay
October 25, 2017
A contractor has begun sewer pipe inspections at various locations in the City of Courtenay. Inspections are planned primarily over large sections of west Courtenay, with an additional work zone north of Ryan Road along Braidwood and Back Roads.
The work began October 23, and will continue over the next eight weeks. The project is part of the city’s overall asset management program, focused on proactive maintenance to reduce risks and extend the life of existing infrastructure, minimizing long-term costs.
Sewer pipe inspections involve using a remote control camera to grade the condition of the underground sanitary and drainage pipes in order to prioritize utility renewal throughout the city.
Although every reasonable effort will be made to minimize the disruption to traffic, motorists should be prepared for minor delays. Roadways may be reduced to single lane alternating traffic flow directly adjacent to working crews with traffic control personnel on site. We ask that the traveling public to be patient, slow down and obey all traffic control.
