Dog Swim Makes a Splash for Vancouver Island Compassion Dogs
September 6, 2019
Pooch-A-Poolooza was rated two paws up by many happy doggies at the Outdoor Pool!
147 dogs enjoyed the swim hosted by Courtenay Recreation at the Courtenay and District Memorial Outdoor Pool at Lewis Park on August 31st. With their owners’ help – and wallets – the dogs raised $589 for Vancouver Island Compassion Dogs and $100 for the Comox Valley & District Branch SPCA.
The annual event marks the end of the summer season at the outdoor pool, and has become a tradition for many local dogs. Following the swim, the pool was drained and cleaned for the winter.
Thank you to the event sponsors including Woofy’s Pet Foods for giveaways and Van Isle Veterinary Hospital for providing vaccination checks to ensure the safety of all dogs in the pool. Thank you also to the summer outdoor pool staff, including Taya Bezanson, summer pool coordinator, for doing such a great job running the event.
