Additional Warming Centres Activated

Update on December 22: Additional warming spaces have opened to support those needing warmth and care during this cold front. This is in addition to the current services being offered. 

EMCR (Emergency Management Climate Readiness BC) - funded overnight drop in Warming Centre locations until the morning of December 24th.

1. Courtenay downtown area

Location: Connect, 685 Cliffe Ave, Courtenay (night drop-in space is now available due to recent renovations). 

8 p.m. to 8 a.m. (Dec 22 and 23, overnight only)

2. Denman Island

Location: 1196 Northwest Rd, Denman Island (DI Community Hall)

The warming centre on Denman Island is operating during day time only. The switch to daytime hours is based on community needs assessment conducted by the local service provider.

3.  Hornby Island

Location: 3875 Central Rd. (Hornby Island Ballpark Clubhouse) Limited hours due to staffing capacity. The warming centre may only be activated during power outages.
