The City of Courtenay (the “Owner”) invites proposals for the scope of work described in this Request for Proposals (RFP).
This RFP applies to and governs the preparation of Proposals for the Contract listed above. The Contract is for the construction of the 6th Street Active Transportation Bridge. The bridge will provide a third crossing over the Courtenay River within the City of Courtenay and is intended to provide an active transportation link between east and west Courtenay that is accessible to all users. This project is funded in part by the Government of Canada.
The project generally consists of the following work:
• Site preparation, excavation, and removals;
• Supply, fabrication, and erection of new pedestrian/cycling cable-stayed steel bridge over the Courtenay River and approach retaining walls;
• Construction of trail tie-ins, paving, and civil works at Simms Millennium Park side;
• Installation of electrical works for bridge lighting, cyclist counter, and miscellaneous components;
• Intersection upgrades at 6th Street and Anderton Ave and along 6th Street, including traffic management while working in the roadways;
• Landscaping across the project site, including plantings and hydroseeding;
• Supply and installation of security screening beneath bridge back spans; and
• Supply and installation of critter passage at east approach.
A non-mandatory site meeting will be held on December 12, 2024 at 1:00pm local time. The tour will start in the parking lot of Simms Millennium Park. Refer to section 5.2 of the RFP for more details.
