Community Clean-Up
The City of Courtenay would like to thank you for your interest in volunteering for the community cleanup day. Come out and join an upcoming spring clean-up and help make Courtenay shine! The City will be hosting a community clean-up event on Saturday, June 3rd, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Community volunteers will meet at Harmston Park (832 Harmston Avenue) at 10 a.m., rain or shine, for a safety orientation. City staff will distribute trash pickers/grabbers, bags, and gloves. Volunteers are then invited to pick up trash in the area around the park including the downtown core and nearby trails.
Volunteers must register by signing up ahead of time through this site. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the event.
Please ensure you remove all refuse collected from the park, trail, or public area where you are conducting your cleanup, and bring it to the specified locations for pickup. Staff with City vehicles will be at designated locations to pick up collected materials for disposal.
Please do not deposit collected refuse into park garbage cans or park recycling bins as this will result in over-filling of receptacles intended for casual users.
Garbage and debris in urban and natural environments, if not removed, can get washed into storm drains, creeks, and waterways. Keeping our parks, trails, streets, and sidewalks clean helps keep debris out of the estuary and the ocean.
