Courtenay Canada Day celebrations in Downtown Courtenay and Lewis Park are just around the corner and the organizing team has been hard at work preparing free and fun events for June 30 and July 1.

On Sunday, June 30 the Night Before Concert at Lewis Park starts at 4 p.m. and includes Indigenous and multicultural performances followed by the Sean Grieve Committee. Headlining the concert are the Timebenders, an explosive, interactive, high energy show that will have everyone on the dance floor!

On July 1st events start in Downtown Courtenay with the Comox Valley Concert Band playing at 9 a.m. at Randy Wiwchar Plaza in front of Sid Williams Theatre, followed by the 5th Street Mile (CV Roadrunners) at 9:30 a.m. The parade down 5th Street starts at 10 a.m.

After the parade, celebrations move to Lewis Park starting at 11 a.m. with kids zone, vendors, food trucks, activity booths, welcoming ceremonies including cake, and the kids bike draw for ages 5 - 12. Get bike draw tickets at the special events tent beside the Lewis Park stage.

Performances on the Lewis Park Stage include Lyall Steel and Isabelle Durand at 11 a.m. and headliners WCC (West Coast Chicago) from 1 - 2:30 p.m. WCC is a phenomenal tribute to the legendary rock band Chicago capturing the authentic sound of all of Chicago’s hit songs from 1969 – 1991.

Other great events happening on July 1st include the Courtenay and District Museum’s Open House, the Courtenay Legion's Party, a free swim Courtenay Outdoor Pool in Lewis Park and the Evergreen Club Tea Dance at the Native Sons Hall. Check the schedule for details.
