Father's Day Kite Fly
It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no it’s a kite! Come out to the 34th Annual Father’s Day Kite Fly, Sunday, June 16th at Goose Spit Park from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. Dads, moms, grandparents, friends and kids of all ages can come enjoy the beach and the colours and the shapes of the kites flying through the sky. Registration runs from 12:00 noon – 1:00 p.m. and is FREE and open to everyone.
Bring your own kite and practice safe kite flying. Be aware of the power lines and keep your kites away from them.
Trophies and prizes will be awarded in a variety of categories, such as peoples’ choice, stunt kite, oldest pilot, largest kite, hard-luck flyer, homemade kite, and more. Judging and prizes take place from 1:30 – 2:15 pm.
Limited parking is available at Goose Spit Park. A park and ride will be available from Brooklyn Elementary (1290 Guthrie Road) from 11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Courtenay Recreation would like to thank Pal Aerospace and Salt n Sage Photography for donating prizes, and the Old Farm Market for donating refreshments. Thank you also to the Comox Valley Regional District for park use and arranging traffic control.
