The final concert of the 2024 Simms Concerts features Stealing Dan on Sunday, August 25 starting at 7 p.m. This concert also features a CV Food Bank Drive, please bring a non-perishable food item or cash donation (debit and credit card accepted).

Stealing Dan is an ultra-authentic homage to the greatest pop-jazz band of all time, Steely Dan.  You’ll hear all the hits, including Reeling In The Years, Rikki Don’t Loose That Number, Peg, Josie, FM, Hey Nineteen, My Old School, Pretzel Logic, and some deep track favourites as well.

Stealing Dan has an enthusiastic following on Vancouver Island and beyond and has recently performed on the main stage of Vancouver Island MusicFest and the Nanaimo International Jazz Festival (NIJF) to rave reviews:

Joelle Rabu, NIJF Operations Manager, said about the band, "Stealing Dan embodies the sound of Steely Dan: every note, voicing, nuance, harmonic and rhythmic element was delivered. This music crosses over so many genres, only the best musicians should play it...Stealing Dan is in that class of musicianship."

The band is the result of a lifetime dream of lead singer Jim Papp. He reached out like-minded ‘Dan Fans’ from across Vancouver Island, starting with John Mang (keyboards) and Jeff Gillespie (guitar) and the journey began.

They recruited superb saxophonists Claudio Fantinato and Rachel Cooper, Jeff Drummond on bass and Art Van Volsen on drums. With stellar background vocals from Colleen Brooks, Trish Horrocks and Miranda Hopkins, the picture was complete.

Simms Millennium Park is located by the 5th Street Bridge and across from Lewis Park. Please bring your own lawn chair or blanket.  For concert information please call the Courtenay Recreation Lewis Centre at 250-338-5371 or get updated information at www.courtenay.ca/simms.
