Delivery of New Automated Collection Carts Set to Begin in September
August 23, 2023
New automated collection carts in Comox and Courtenay will be distributed soon for the new curbside service launching in 2024.
Beginning in September and continuing over the next three months, properties with curbside waste collection in the City of Courtenay and the Town of Comox will start receiving new carts for the automated curbside collection service launching on January 2, 2024, for garbage, recycling, and organics (food and yard) waste.
Individual carts will be delivered to households at various points throughout the fall, with all three carts arriving by the end of November. Residents must continue using their current waste and recycling containers until the rollout of the new service in January.
An information guide is available for residents in each jurisdiction with additional information on the new program. The guide will be included with the cart delivery. Residents may also download or review the guide from the municipal website in advance.
