Upcoming Road Improvements - Cumberland Road - Piercy Avenue to Grieve Avenue

Transportation upgrades are coming to Cumberland Road. The City of Courtenay will be completing road improvements on Cumberland Road from Piercy Avenue to Grieve Avenue. 

Construction is expected from Monday, August 26, 2024, to Friday, August 30, 2024, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., weather permitting.

During construction hours, vehicle traffic will be restricted, with single-lane alternating traffic in effect.

Traffic control personnel will be on-site to assist all commuters and direct local traffic, pedestrians and cyclists through the work area.

This project was identified as a priority in Courtenay’s Cycling Network Plan. It will create an active transportation corridor that connects to current and future cycling infrastructure on 5^th Street, Willemar Ave, Piercy Avenue and 1^st Street. Learn more at www.courtenay.ca/cycling.

Cumberland Road will also see the addition of two flashing crosswalk locations, these safety improvements are expected to be installed in fall 2024.
