Upcoming Road Improvements - Willemar Avenue - from 5th Street to the Roundabout

Transportation upgrades are coming to Willemar Avenue. The City of Courtenay will be repaving Willemar Avenue from the 5th Street corner to the roundabout at Cumberland Road. 

Construction is expected from Monday, August 19, to Friday, August 23, 2024, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., weather permitting.

During construction hours, vehicle traffic will be restricted, with access for local traffic only. 

Traffic control personnel will be on site to assist all commuters and direct local traffic, pedestrians and cyclists through the work area.

This project was identified as a priority in Courtenay’s Cycling Network Plan. It will create an active transportation corridor that connects to current and future cycling infrastructure on 5^th Street, Cumberland Road, Piercy Avenue and 1^st Street. Learn more at www.courtenay.ca/cycling.
