Downtown revitalization tax exemption
The Downtown Courtenay Revitalization Tax Exemption Blaw No. 2937 offers property owners a tax exemption as an economic incentive to support downtown development. This program encourages new improvements and revitalization through:
- Residential development and redevelopment: Increasing downtown population density to support local businesses.
- Commercial development and redevelopment: Creating a vibrant downtown that attracts new investments and supports residential growth.
- Strengthening the downtown core: Reinforcing Courtenay’s role as the commercial heart of the Comox Valley.
Amendments to the bylaw are being considered. To learn more, view the April 2, 2025, staff report [PDF - 3 MB].
