Development Cost Charges
What are Development Cost Charges?
Development Cost Charges (DCCs) are collected by the City of Courtenay to aid with the costs associated with upgrading, maintaining and installing sanitary sewage, water, drainage and highway infrastructure as well as to provide funds for the acquisition of park land related to municipal growth.
The City of Courtenay also collects the DCCs charged by the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD). These charges are calculated alongside the City of Courtenay fees are are payable to the City of Courtenay at subdivision stage or at the time of building permit issuance.

Development Cost Charges Report
Local governments are authorized to collect DCCs under the Local Government Act, and as outlined in Part 14, Division 19, Section 569.
