Winter Shelter
After an extensive and coordinated community-wide effort across the Comox Valley, the City of Courtenay and regional partners have identified a location for a winter shelter for the 2025 winter season.
The property at 971 Cumberland Road is a City-owned property near the City’s Operations Centre.
The shelter is operational for emergency overnight use as an Extreme Weather Reponse (EWR) shelter when pre-determined weather thresholds are met, until April 15, 2025.
BC Housing has engaged Lookout Housing and Health Society to operate the facility.
The facility is supported by community partners, including the Comox Valley Regional District, the City of Courtenay, Town of Comox and the Comox Valley Coalition to End Homelessness.
